WHO Do We Serve? · Fragile elders who hope to stay just where they are — “at home.” Maintaining a person’s independence may be possible when they have help with some of the small things. · Families who are coping with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. · We have no restrictions with regard to age, income, race, or religious beliefs. There are no fees for services, but donations are welcome. WHERE Do We Serve? · Our service area is Boise, Idaho. WHO Requests Services? · Concerned family, friends, or neighbors · Health care or social service organizations · Congregation staff and members · Individuals needing assistance WHO Volunteers? · Caring individuals “giving back” to their community or “living out their faith.” · Volunteers are screened, well-trained, and provided ongoing support for their work. Services Provided Include: · Assistance with shopping · Companionship · Help running errands · Light housekeeping and chores · Meal preparation (occasional) · Phone calls (regular check-in) · Respite care (2-4 hours for caregiver break) · Simple home maintenance · Transportation to/from appointments · Yard work Goals By providing these free services we hope to achieve the following outcomes: · Decreased isolation · Improved access to services · Enhanced independence · Happier, healthier caregivers · A more caring and sensitive community
Proselytizing (attempts to convert others) by volunteers is strictly prohibited, and is cause for removal from the Faith In Action program. We are unable to provide the following services: Power of Attorney or any legal services Medical care (nursing care) Personal care (assistance with bathing, feeding, toileting, transferring, or walking) Live-in care Overnight care
